This Chat With Me!...an annual week-long campaign which is to connect people together and talk to each other. We want to give the opportunity to engage with new people in a friendly, approachable form. It’s an initiative to just say hi and get the conversation going, no matter how small the engagement is.
The idea behind ‘Chat with Me’ can be really daunting and intimidating so to overcome these barriers we approached the project in a fun and inviting manner. Food and drink is the glue to getting people together, it is a social act so by incorporating this into the campaign it allows to ease the awkwardness of a intimating situation. Stylistically, we decided to go with a casual, welcoming design with bright colours and soft forms so that the brand was approachable and warming. We want to make talking to strangers an everyday motion so making the aesthetic something which wasn’t too commercial was really important. To capture people’s attention and to get the conversation going, we did this through odd questions, that may or may not have an answer but is fun to discuss, taking away the personal small talk which people like to avoid. Through doing a campaign, it allows to get the hype up and get people excited about it. It is a limited time event and through fun, interactive and unusual activities, it allows for people to want to participate and hopefully sustain the initiative in following years. The idea is that it doesn’t matter how small or large the engagement is as long as it’s something, it’ll better yourself, so a campaign was an appropriate medium.
