Connect the Street is an event involving the coming together of people in a neighbourhood through the concept of connecting lego mini figure pieces. Our rhetorical approach is the use of Lego and how the purpose of the nostalgic toy is physically connecting pieces together. The Lego pieces, specifically the Lego Mini Figures, represent the literal connections between each piece and figurative connections between people coming together.
Poster, Website and an open item for the transmedia project. Illustrations and the website were created by my partner and I created the layouts for the poster and the animation for the open item.
Participants in the Neighbours Day event can download the app on to their phones from the App Store or Google Play Store before, during or after the event. In this application, participants will be able to create their own mini figure with hundred's of hair styles, faces, tops and bottoms that best represent them. They will then fill in their details, of their name, number, address, and any additional information they would like to put that they think is important for their neighbours to know. A unique QR code will then be made with their profile, that they will be able to share and scan with their neighbours to be connected on their contact list. From there they will be able to communicate with their neighbours after the event for any type of emergency that occurs. The whole idea of being able to create and build your own lego mini figure, ties in the idea of finding the right pieces to connect the lego pieces together as one which ties the transmedia project together across all three mediums. Let's Connect the Street.
